Since starting this blog I have given a lot of thought to what I want to do with it and what I hope to share with you all. I truly love writing this blog and I find so much joy in it. I want to be able to give a little something back to you all. Being a beauty lover, it is a given that I am also a bit of a beauty collector... I wanted to utilise this in someway so that I could share with you all my thoughts and opinions on a few of the products out there.

I have decided to create a series of in-depth reviews on various products; I am calling them "Day2Night Impressions". Essentially, I will vlog and blog about my experiences with particular products over a full day of wear. You will join me from the initial application to the end of the day, giving you a first hand view of the products in use. I want to be able to provide you all with an insight in to the products, as well as sharing with you all my views.

I have decided to start by testing some foundations. I feel that foundations can be rather tricky to purchase; it's really difficult to get a good impression of the product from a simple swatch. Hopefully these Day2Night impressions will help make the selection process a little easier.

I have done a quick introduction video which explains it a little more and reveals the first few foundations that I will be testing!!

Let me know in the comments below what you think of this new project!!

The New Love of My Life... theBalm: Balm-Jovi

First of all... So sorry I haven't been around the last few days. I finally returned back home from 9 weeks aways from home. I am so happy to be back home, but there is so much to do!! But I'm back now and I am planning to be a lot more focused now that life is returning to normal. So, please stay tuned!

Anywho... Today I wanted to share with you the new love of my life... Balm-Jovi by theBalm Cosmetics. I first heard about this little pocket rocket when my Top YouTuber of 2012Jodik76 from Goo Roo Beauty, mentioned it in one of her amazing Collective Hauls. I was intrigued by the concept; a complete face solution in one handy, compact palette. As a frequent traveller, I am always on the look out for an easy solution that I can quickly reach for as I'm packing at the last minute.

Lucky for me, I managed to pick up this palette in the after christmas sales. I was walking through David Jones in Adelaide and I noticed a Clearance Bin... obviously I stopped and to my absolute delight there it was... Balm-Jovi on sale at a steal of a price, just $31.45!! How could I say no??? I rummaged through to find one in perfect condition, and I now have a new love in my life. I absolutely adore this palette, and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great, versatile, high quality, value for money and unique face palette. Keep reading and I'll tell you why...

Let me break it down for you...

Presentation

The first thing that jumps out at you with this palette is the art work. It's such a clever design. Reminiscent of a Rock Concert Poster, your mind immediately filled with images of the music industry and the sounds of your favourite rock beats. Their attention to detail is second to none, right down to the clever play-on-words used throughout the entire palette. Now, I know that presentation doesn't make a palette, but I personally love that theBalm takes the time to design a product with such detail. It shows that they have pride in what they do and, more importantly, that they love what they do. They don't just pick a few colours and chuck them in a palette; there is a very thorough process at play, right from the initial concept idea through to the design and execution of their products.

As with all of theBalm products, the Balm-Jovi palette has a slip cover. I'm kind of 'meh' about these. They don't really make a huge difference to me; honestly, I could live without it, but I don't mind living with it. The palette cover is cleverly split in to two, with the top part opening to reveal the powder products and the bottom section protecting and separating the cream products. Both covers are magnetised and snap shut, which I love. Once again that adds to the transportability of the palette, so another big plus in my book! The palette also features a decently sized mirror which is in the shape of a love heart; A-dor-a-ble I know!!!! The bottom flap gives 4 look suggestions, which, in my opinion, is a nice touch.

Overall, for presentation I give this palette 5 stars. To be honest, It's hard to fault and theBalm should be very proud of their achievements.

Products

Eye Shadows

Heavy Metal Collection - Shimmers

Metal-ica is a beautiful snow-white colour which has a gorgeous sheen to it and almost a silver-ish shimmer. I love it as an inner corner colour; I find it is very blend-able and easy to work with. The only negative is that it can be slightly powdery, but if I just tap off the excess it's absolutely no problem at all, so kind of a moot point.

Iron Maid-In is probably one of my favourite eye shadows in the entire palette. It is a stunning neutral, almost nude colour with gold-ish undertones and sheen. Being a gold girl, I absolutely love this colour. I find it to be very versatile; I've been able to wear it all over the lid, in the inner corner, under the eye as an eye liner or even as a highlighter on the inner corner or the brow bone, depending on the look. The shadow itself is very buttery and is a pleasure to work with.

Lead Zeppelin looks lovely in the pan; a deep moss colour with gold shimmer. While its colour payoff is not the best, I still love this colour. I find that it works well and is very wearable. It looks nice all over the lid or as a crease colour. I enjoy the gold shimmer and I find that it works well will Iron Maid-In. It's brilliant as a transition colour to take a golden-glow day time look to a more dramatic night time eye.

Alice Copper is a sensational plum-burgandy colour. I love using it with my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk. I recently used this colour in the crease to create a smokey plum coloured eye and it was absolutely gorgeous. In my opinion it is the perfect shade for those who love bright colours but are a little afraid to use them. It is a great shadow to work with and I find it blends seamlessly.

Classical Collection -  Mattes

Adagio is an amazing matte skin tone colour with a subtle pinkish undertone. It is a lovely brow bone or inner corner colour; I also enjoy using it on the inner third as, with it's buttery consistency, it blends like a dream! It's not even funny how much I've been using this colour since I got this palette.

Allegro is an impressive mid-tone matte brown which is similar to Buck by Urban Decay. I actually think I prefer Allegro as it has more of a gold undertone and therefore works nicely with gold-tone colours such as Iron Maid-In or Half Baked, which is my all time favourite and most worn eye shadow, period. I love Allegro as an all over the lid colour, in the crease or as a blending out colour. Let's be honest, you can never have too many matte browns...

Moderato is a deep purple-brown matte colour which is lovely for creating a deep brown smokey eye. It looks amazing in the outer corner or in the crease. Colour pay-off is not exceptional but it's very build-able, which I like; once again it means that I can work with it with confidence, slowly creating the deeper look I'm after.

Presto is an elegant deep reddish-brown with a similar colour payoff to Moderato. Fabulous in the outer corner, in the crease or all over if you're wanting a more dramatic look. In my opinion it's a very wearable colour; it looks more intense in the pan than it does on the lid. Love it.

Alternative Collection - Shimmers

Blink 1982 is a stunning mauve colour with the slightest gold shimmer, that is so amazingly beautiful on the lid. I have literally used this to bits already. I adore it. It looks dazzling all over the lid, in the crease, as a liner, in the inner, middle or outer third, pretty much any where you want to use it and how ever you want to use it. What a colour, what a texture, WOW, love it.. my pick of the palette.

The Stroke is a deep navy blue, almost black colour with a hint of blue shimmery glitter particles. Great for creating a smokey eye or for using as a liner; it has exceptional colour payoff and is an all round good quality shadow.

Rem is a spectacularly soft lilac colour which has the slightest sheen. I've really been enjoying this colour on the inner corner when using the purple tones in the palette to create a smokey eye. It's a great colour to work with and it's very blend-able. Watch out for fall out though; it is quite powdery. I tap it off on my hand before applying to the lid to avoid any messy situations.

Face

Disco Disco Solid Gold is my new favourite highlighter. Its a gorgeous gold tone luminizer which just gives the most sensational glow to the top of your cheek bones. It blends seamlessly and sits beautifully on the skin, not looking powdery or cakey. It is fabulous as an inner corner or brow bone highlight if you want to give those areas a glorious gold glow. It works well with my skin tone and is extremely pigmented, a definite winner and a new go-to product.

Pop! Pop! Don't You Want Me is the most pigmented blush I think I have ever used- you literally need the tiniest amount to give your cheeks a healthy, luscious glow. It blends well and easily buffs in the the skin. As with all Balm blushes it can also be used as an eye shadow, and I have really been enjoying it to add some warmth when blending out the crease.

Lips

Milly is the perfect nude lip colour. It provides just the right amount of pinkness to the lips while still maintaining the beauty of the natural lip. I have been wearing it endlessly; it has decent staying power, is extremely moisturising and give the lips a subtle glowing sheen.

Vanilly is a rock star worthy bright red; it has the same formulation as Milly, full of moisture and feels beautiful on the lips. In my opinion it looks very different swatched than in the pan, but still a great lip colour.

What I love most about these lip products is that you can layer them and create your own unique colour to perfectly match you look. Also, they are also usable as creme blushes. I am yet to try them out, but given their creamy consistency I am confident that they will blend nicely and look lovely on the cheeks.

The Final Cut

A definite winner for me! The whole palette is well thought out and executed. It is very versatile, there are so many different looks that you can create with this palette; the possibilities are endless. If you're a person who love makeup and enjoys playing around with different looks then you definitely need to check this palette out. Similarly, if you are looking for a great all-in-one solution then this baby is worth a look.  I can't recommend theBalm's Balm-Jovi Face Palette enough and I am actually thinking of grabbing a couple extra for presents for family and friends. At just over $30 at David Jones you can't go past this palette in terms of quality and value for money.

Current Sales... Too Good To Miss!

For us Shopaholics this is the best/worst time of year.... You guessed it... once again it's Sale Time!!! That amazing time of year that you absolutely love, but your bank account dreads. If you're like me you are subscribed to EVERY single VIP list possible, which means your inbox is currently overloaded with a huge variety of sales and offers from all of your favourite shopping destinations.

I wanted to quickly draw your attention to one which you simply cannot afford to miss! Chemist Warehouse  has up to 60% off a wide range of beauty products!! Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Wait... it gets better. They have.... deep breath.... a MASSIVE 50% off their complete range of  Maybelline, Revlon and Rimmel. Eeeeekkkk!!!

Needless to say I wanted to go a little crazy.... but I didn't. I had to restrict myself. I picked up a few bits and pieces I'd been wanting, but I definitely could have bought more.... Luckily the sale is still on, so I may pop back and grab a few extra things I've been lusting over!

Check out what I bought....

As you know from my Top12 of 2012 I absolutely love the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoos, so it's no surprise that they are my pick of the sale. Selling at just over $5, you can't go past this bargain! I grabbed #30 Pomegranate Punk, #25 Bad to the Bronze and #05 Too Cool. I absolutely love these, so I was excited to find them in Australia at such a great price.

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick in colour 03

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in colour 60 Brightener

My obsession with Revlon Lip Butters continues... picked up colour 095 Creme Brulee.

Another gem from Revlon... Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Adore.

A Revlon Romance...??? Couldn't leave behind MakeupByTiffanyD's recommendation of this Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in colour 201 Torch.

I recently watched MakeUp Geek's How to Look Fresh & Dewy Tutorial, in that she recommended using a creme blush for creating the best dewy effect. So I had wanted to grab one... figured at 50% off I would give the Revlon Photoready Creme Blush in colour 100 Pinched a try...

I remember hearing Goo Roo Beauty mentioning the Rimmel London Scandaleyes range in one of her recent videos, so I decided to pick up a couple of products to try out. First I got the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in colour 004 Taupe.

And, I couldn't go past this Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in colour 001 Black, also from Rimmel London.

So what are you waiting for!! I know you're itching to get down to your local Chemist Warehouse and go a little crazy! You've got to be quick though... according to my local, the sale finishes this Sunday, 6th January 2013.

Be sure to let me know what you pick up! Please comment below as to what blogs you would like to see from me in 2013. I would love and appreciate your input.

Thanks for reading!

Top 12 of 2012

My Top 12 Beauty Products of 2012
From Left to Right: Moroccan Oil, Naks Surf Styler, Benefit They're Real Mascara, Australis Finishing Spritz, Beauty Blender Urban Decay Naked Palette, Revlon Lip Buttters, Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo, MAC Studio Fix Powder, Essence Lip Liners, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface.

For me 2012 has been an amazing year. My we found passion and obsession with make up began late in 2011 and has grown considerably throughout 2012. Needless to say my collection has quadrupled and I have fallen in love with many products in 2012!

1 - Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo by Eye Studio

Maybelline certainly hit the nail on the head when they released these little babies! Easily the stand out of the year for me, the Color Tattoos have transformed my make-up application.  I love the versatility of the Color Tattoos; they can be worn alone or used as a base for applying eye shadows. Long wearing, blend-able, exceptional pigmentation and colour payoff, combined with a formula reminiscent of the ever popular MAC Paint Pots, the Color Tattoos have quickly developed a cult-like following amongst beauty fanatics. To top it off, the price point, in my opinion, is extremely reasonable, even in Australia. Currently on sale at Chemist Warehouse for just over $5, a savvy shopper will always pay under $10! If you haven't yet checked out the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoos I strongly recommend that you do; trust me - you wont regret it!

2 - Revlon Lip Butters

Although way overpriced in Australia, in comparison to the American RRP, Revlon Lip Butters are definitely a stand out of the 2012 for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed collecting these throughout the year and I can confidently say that they have become my daily lip product, replacing my usual boring lip conditioner. What I love most about the Lip Butters is that they are so nourishing and moisturising, ensuring that my lips stay in tip top condition! The wide colour selection means that I can select the perfect shade to match any look or outfit, day or night. They're so good, even my mum has stolen a couple!!! If only the price point was lower and more aligned with the USA, my life would be complete!

3 - Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette

I owe a lot to this Palette; it, as well as YouTube, really began my love/obsession with make-up. My parents bought me Naked 1 for Christmas 2011, and it sparked something inside of me. I have loved using this palette throughout 2012 to create some simply gorgeous looks. In my opinion this is the ultimate eye shadow palette; it is perfect for creating day or night time looks and has a colour selection well suited to all skin tones. The formula of the shadows is gorgeous and a delight to work with, so buttery and smooth, excellent pigmentation and superior blend-ability. When travelling throughout 2012 the Naked Palette has always been right by my side and has been the perfect travel companion. I have also picked up Naked 2 throughout 2012, but I don't seem to reach for it as much. I'm excited to see what 2013 has in store for me... will Naked make my top 13 of 2013??? Only time will tell!

4 - Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface

My lovely Hubby Luke picked this up for me when he was in the US in mid 2012. All i can say is WHY-O-WHY can't I easily get Tarte in Australia???????? It makes me so sad! This product is Ah-Maze-Ing!!! It is, hands down, my most favourite blush of all time; I actually reach for it all the time. In a word, it is sublime. Gorgeous on the skin, amazing pigmentation, easy to work with, just the most wearable, natural pink colour; the list is endless! I could rave about this for hours! The only problem is that I need more Tarte Amazonian 12 Hour Clay Blushes.... because one is just not enough for a make-up junkie like me!

5 - Essence Lip Liners

Recently, Dom from DOMMsmiles did  The Best of Essence Video. After watching and hearing her rave about the range I quickly went to my local Target and grabbed a few products. By far my favourites would have to be the Essence Lip Liners. I initially purchased just one, but after using it, and falling in love with it, I went and purchased the complete collection. WOW!! These are fantastic! At just $1.95 RRP you simply can't go past these lip liners. I have used a few lip liners from various companies and by far these are up there with the best, particularly in terms of value for money. They are a beautiful formula, the colour range is divine and they are a dream to apply. Even though I only really discovered these towards the end of 2012, I have to include them in my top 12 because they have fast become an essential part of my make-up routine, providing a gorgeous base and ensuring my lips look their best!

6 - Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector For Combination to Oily Skin in Light

When Garnier released their BB Cream for Combination to OilySkin the beauty community was sent in to a buzzing frenzy of excitement and delight. At just $13.95 RRP for 40mL, this has quickly become my daily face product. With it's exceptional coverage, ease of application and considerable staying power, it's hard to go past this product as a day to day foundation solution. And to add to it's already glowing report card, the Garnier BB Cream is SPF 15, which is great for the harsh Aussie sun. I have also found myself using this as a primer/base when wearing a foundation which doesn't contain SPF. After using this product since its release it's easy to see why it's Australia's number 1 BB Cream and is most definitely one of my Top 12 for 2012.

7- Benefit They're Real Mascara

Quite simply my lashes have never looked better! This is by far the most amazing mascara I have ever used. The formula is  remarkable,  adding volume, length and definition to lashes, without clumping or looking unnatural. The wand is brilliant, ensuring that the lashes are separated and the product is applied evenly. This is easily one of my favourites of 2012 and I believe this mascara will be my holy grail throughout 2013.

8 - Beauty Blender

If you don't have a Beauty Blender, you need one. I know that some people may say that they are sooooo 2 years ago, but I personally don't think you can go past this egg-shaped sponge for perfect, flawless make-up application. It manages to always give my skin an airbrushed finish and, to be honest, it makes foundation application a breeze. Also, I love how versatile this sponge is. I can use it for my foundation, to blend in concealer, to help buff in powder bronzers and blushers and, most recently I have started to apply my setting powder with my Beauty Blender. I find that no matter the job, the Beauty Blender is up to the challenge. In 2013, I aim to try out a variety of brushed for foundation application, but I really believe that nothing will beat the Beauty Blender!

9 - MAC Studio Fix Powder

In 2012, I have really enjoyed this powder foundation for both setting liquid foundation and as a foundation on its own. The formula is beautiful, easy to use, great coverage and very long lasting on my skin. I find that it doesn't cake up and applies flawlessly when applies with a brush or sponge applicator. It's a great product and I have used it endlessly in 2012, however it is quite pricey. My mission in 2013 is to find a powder foundation I like just as much, but costs a fraction of the price; stay tuned....

10 - Moroccan Oil

My sister-in-law Nat from Myst Hair and Make-Up got me on to Moroccan Oil in 2011, and it has undoubtedly been a stand out hair product of 2012. I use it every time i wash my hair, placing a small amount in to towel-dry damp hair. It has been a miracle worker for my crazy, out-of-control curly hair. My hair has never been in better condition and my curls have never looked better. What I love most about this product is that it doesn't leave my hair oily and it gives me great curl definition without weighing down my locks. Luckily, Nat got me another bottle for Christmas - just in time because mines almost out!

11 - Australis Finishing Spritz

Mel from MissTango2 YouTube and MissTango2 Blog introduced me to this miracle spray and I haven't look back. I don't know how it does it, but a few quick mists of this after applying my make-up and everything just looks better. It seems to bring it all together and set the look. It's adds a beautiful glow to the skin and takes away any cakey-ness or powdery-ness that is sometime inevitable. And then, it also ensures that my make-up lasts all day, keeping my face fresh and flawless throughout. I can't thank MissTango2 enough for introducing me to this sensational product, and it is sure to stay a favourite for years to come.

12 - Nak Surf Styler Sea Salt Spray

2012 has definitely been the year that I have finally embraced my curls and worked with them, rather than against them. Nak Surf Styler Sea Salt Spray has really helped me with styling my hair and creating gorgeous beach-style waves and curls. This is an Australian Made product and personally, I love to support all things Aussie. If you're looking for a good quality Sea Salt Spray I highly recommend giving the Nak Surf Styler a go.

Well, that's it! My Top 12 of 2012. Thanks So Much for Reading and I am so excited for 2013. It's going to be a remarkable year and I can't wait to share it with you all. Please comment below and let me know what your Top 12 picks are of 2012. Happy New Year to you all.
